Course Description
This course is a general biology class
designed for the student who probably will pursue additional education after
high school. This class will meet
college entrance requirements. This
level of biology will emphasize the basic concepts of biology, including the
study of plants and animals, anabolic steroids, ecology, human physiology, and
cancer instruction. In addition it will
include forest management and humane care of domestic animals. Homework and laboratory assignments will be
used to help students understand the biology of life.

1. Understand the process of the scientific method to analyze data, interpret relationships and trends, and solve real world problems. 2. Classify molecules based on their structure and function. 3. Classify types of cells based on their structure and function. 4. Explain how traits are passed from parent to offspring and how differences appear among a species. Semester 2 5. Explain how evolution by means of natural selection works over time to produce new species that are adapted to their environments. 6. Identify the organs of the circulatory, digestive, respiratory, muscular and skeletal systems and describe how they function. 7. Grade Breakdown50% Tests
15% Quizzes 15% Labs and Projects 10% Homework Retake PolicyA student can complete test retakes on all tests within one week of receiving the test back. Only one retake will be permitted per test. The student must first correct the original test and complete the homework for the unit.
Homework PolicyLate homework will not be accepted for credit.
